When England win a penalty, nobody in the stadium wonders who will take it. Harry Kane has scored over 60 career penalties for Tottenham, Bayern Munich and England, and defenders have learned to be very careful with him inside the box.
His conversion rate in the Premier League consistently exceeded 85%. At the 2018 World Cup he won the Golden Boot with 6 goals, several of them from the spot. He went on to become England's all-time top scorer with 66-plus goals, a significant share of them penalties.
A clinical method
Kane picks his corner early and strikes it with precision. There is no stutter and no long wait for the goalkeeper to go first. He decides, and he executes. It is a plain technique, and in his hands it is very hard to stop.
He may be the most reliable penalty taker English football has right now, and there is a decent argument for going further than that. When club or country need a spot kick converted, there is no discussion about who steps up.
