Gators Swim Club Hosts Inaugural Invitational Gala at Kampala Parents School

Gators Swim Club Kampala hosts its inaugural Invitational Gala from August 15–16 at Kampala Parents School, gathering 215 swimmers for a developmental competition.

The gala focuses on development, allowing swimmers to test progress and gain racing experience rather than just competing for medals.

According to Coach Muzafaru Muwanguzi, head of Gators Swim Club, the event aims to prepare athletes for Uganda Aquatics competitions through personal-best times.

A total of 15 teams and 1,748 entries—including 215 swimmers—highlight the event’s scale and growing interest in club-level swimming.

Gators leads with 57 swimmers (25 female, 32 male) and 466 entries, followed by Dolphins Swim Club with 39 swimmers and 338 entries.

Other participants include Imara Aquatics, Sailfish, Aquatic Academy, and individual swimmers, reflecting Uganda’s expanding club swimming ecosystem.

The event underscores the sport’s maturation, as clubs shift from training-focused roles to organizing competitive fixtures.

For many athletes, the gala offers a platform to achieve personal milestones like faster times or improved technique.
