The FUFA Women Club Commercial Workshop opened on Wednesday at Jevine Hotel in Kampala, bringing together FUFA Women Super League clubs and stakeholders for two days of capacity building.
FIFA experts Jose Andres Portabella and Tomas Marcal De Mello Correa are facilitating sessions running from 16th–17th September 2026.
FUFA official Kalema traced the growth of the women’s game from the national team’s formation to structured competitions and more women in administrative and technical roles.
He stressed that stronger competitions give clubs, players and referees a solid foundation, with commercial growth central to that vision.
“Because at the end of the day, if we have a strong league, it will give us strong clubs, strong players and referees,” Kalema said.
He urged clubs to share knowledge internally, noting that the same faces should not attend every workshop while others miss out on adding value.
Sheba also called for practical implementation, saying: “I hope they do an evaluation to ensure everything that’s taught is actually implemented.”
Portabella placed clubs at the centre of football’s ecosystem, while Correa welcomed his first visit to Uganda as a chance to exchange experiences.
The argument doing the rounds in Kampala is whether FUFA’s commercial push will translate into real club revenue or remain a workshop-level exercise.
How are clubs expected to benefit from the workshop?
Clubs gain practical tools to strengthen their commercial profiles, with FIFA experts guiding them on management, governance and stakeholder engagement.
