FUFA has handed all 18 StarTimes Uganda Premier League clubs 540 official competition balls worth UGX 60 million ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Each club received 30 Zakayo balls to support their preparations and fixtures during the new campaign.

The balls were officially handed over by FUFA Executive Committee member Deo Mutabazi on behalf of the federation president.

"It is a very wonderful and positive gesture from the President and the Federation to support its members, particularly these UPL clubs, in getting enough balls for their own fixtures," Mutabazi said.

He added: "All the 18 Uganda Premier League clubs have received these match balls for their own season preparations."

The support sits inside FUFA's Strategic Plan of providing clubs with sports equipment and strengthening their capacity to compete in national competitions.

The argument doing the rounds is whether this kind of kit support should become standard every pre-season, or whether clubs themselves should budget for match balls as a basic running cost.

What did the FUFA ball boost include?

  • 540 Zakayo match balls in total
  • 30 balls per club across all 18 UPL sides
  • Total value of UGX 60 million
  • Handed over by FUFA Executive Committee member Deo Mutabazi
