The StarTimes Uganda Premier League match round two continues with the Kampala derby at the centre as Express and KCCA lock horns at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo on Thursday.
Both opened the season with defeats over the weekend; Express lost 1-0 to BUL while KCCA were beaten 2-0 by Lugogo rivals NEC.
Those results give the derby extra bite, with either side desperate to get off the mark.
Express head coach Morley Byekwaso was bullish at the pre-match press conference.
"They are one of the best sides when it comes to short passes but we have a plan to stop that," he said. "Against BUL, we had a good performance despite the defeat and we go again targeting maximum points against KCCA."
KCCA boss Brian Ssenyondo echoed the same mood, knowing anything less than three points deepens the early pressure on his bench.
"We don't have any other option but go there and win because we lost the first game," Ssenyondo said. "The setback we got last week has only informed us of what we need to do to move forward."
In the Red Eagles camp, Moses Sseruyide is the only reported injury and missed the last training session.
KCCA have fitness doubts over Emmanuel Anyama, youngster Yian Gatbel and Gabonese goalkeeper Axel Mezui.
Elsewhere, promoted Kataka play their first top-flight home match when they host BUL at Bukedea Comprehensive Complex.
What is the talking point ahead of the derby?
The argument doing the rounds in Kampala is whether either coach can afford to lose so early, and whether Ssenyondo's project at Lugogo already needs a result to steady the ship.
