Dhawan leads Uganda to eight-wicket win over Singapore

Raghav Dhawan struck an unbeaten 77 to lead the Cricket Cranes to a commanding eight-wicket victory over Singapore at the Estim Ground on Thursday.

This decisive win in the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B allows Uganda to climb to 22 points in the standings.

Much as the match was reduced to 40 overs due to rain, the Ugandan outfit chased 175 with ease and 43 balls to spare.

Juma Miyagi and Kenneth Waiswa were the main protagonists with the ball, dismantling the Singaporean batting lineup for 175 all out.

Dhawan and Simon Ssesazi laid a solid foundation with a 107-run opening stand that proved crucial for the chase.

Young Gerald Olipa then provided the necessary acceleration, striking a rapid 40 off 30 balls to shift the momentum firmly in Uganda's favour.

“We badly needed this victory,” Dhawan said.

“After the last two games, the important thing was to settle ourselves and build a proper partnership.

“The wicket wasn’t the easiest, so we knew we had to give ourselves time before playing our shots,” Dhawan added.

How did Uganda beat Singapore?

Uganda crushed Singapore by eight wickets through a dominant bowling performance and a massive 107-run opening stand between Dhawan and Ssesazi.
