The Crest Cranes are sharpening their build-up for the 2028 Olympic women's football qualifiers against Zambia with the first leg set for 8 October 2026. Sports scientist Nkata Moses William said the players have responded positively to the training programme as the technical team works on shape and departmental responsibilities. The squad held a practice match against Isra Soccer Academy at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo today. More players are expected to join camp after club commitments to give the coaches additional options. The two-legged aggregate winner will advance in the qualification campaign for Los Angeles 2028.

The argument doing the rounds in Kampala is whether the limited preparation time is enough to bridge the gap against a Zambia side that reached the last Olympics.

Key preparation details:

  • First leg: 8 October 2026 vs Zambia
  • Venue for practice: Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo
  • Practice opponent: Isra Soccer Academy
  • Focus areas: team shape, organisation, departmental roles
  • Additional players awaited from club duty
