Namuwongo Blazers will look to build on their strong start to the 2026 Road to Basketball Africa League (BAL) when they face Madagascar’s COSPN at Hoima City Arena today.
The Ugandan champions opened their campaign in style on Wednesday, crushing Comoros’ Ushindzi 109-45 to take an early step towards the East Division Elite 16.

Peter Obleng led the Blazers with 22 points, while Makhtar Gueye added 20, Frank Nyembo scored 18, Johnathan Jordan contributed 11 and Felix Pack had 10 as five players reached double figures.
The Blazers also dominated the boards, with Peter Olisemeka collecting 15 rebounds and Moses Mugisha grabbing 10.
However, COSPN will be eager to respond after losing 93-69 to Burundi’s Urunani in their opening game on Wednesday.
Mahamane Coulibaly led Urunani with 21 points as the Burundian side built a commanding 35-point halftime lead before holding off COSPN’s second-half fightback.
The clash gives Namuwongo another chance to strengthen their push for qualification, while COSPN will be under pressure to get their campaign back on track.
The Hoima competition also features South Sudan’s Patriots, who are set to face Urunani on Thursday.
The top two teams will advance to the East Division Elite 16, where they will compete for places in the 2027 BAL.
