Newly promoted Ntugasaze Football Club has landed a Shs100 million partnership with Betika Uganda ahead of their maiden Uganda Premier League campaign in the 2026/27 season.
The deal was unveiled on August 19 at Kira Road Police Grounds, Ntugasaze's home venue for the new top-flight adventure, with the betting company backing player recognition, fan engagement, digital content creation and matchday initiatives.
Ntugasaze sealed promotion to the Uganda Premier League after finishing second in the 2025/26 FUFA Big League with 53 points from 30 matches, completing a rapid climb through Uganda's football pyramid.
Founded in 2018 by sports entrepreneur Yossam Ntegereze as a recreational team for workers of Imana Yera Company, the club has now crossed into elite company under tactician Brian Ogwang Bob's leadership.
Desire Akanduhura, the marketing lead at Betika Uganda, said the partnership was chosen to reward the club's growth, ambitious leadership and community roots rather than serve as mere brand visibility.
"Ntugasaze is a young and ambitious club whose journey reflects what determination, good leadership and consistency can achieve," Akanduhura said.
Under the arrangement, Betika will roll out a Shs150,000 Player of the Match Award after every Ntugasaze league fixture, a tidy sweetener for the faithful during what promises to be a bruising debut season.
What did Ntugasaze CEO Brian Ogwang Bob say about the Premier League move?
Club chief executive Brian Ogwang Bob framed the promotion as the product of years of graft and belief by everyone tied to the Ntugasaze project.
"Reaching the Uganda Premier League is the result of years of hard work, belief and commitment from everyone who has been part of Ntugasaze FC's journey," Ogwang said.
The argument doing the rounds in Kampala is whether a Shs100m sponsorship and a Shs150,000 per-match award can meaningfully steady a promoted side facing the taxmen, the Venoms and the rest of the top flight, or whether Ntugasaze will need far deeper pockets to avoid the drop.
