Al Ahly beat Kitara 2-1 during the opening leg of the second-round duel in the CAF Confederation Cup at the Hoima City Stadium on Saturday, 17th October 2026.

Gadaffi Wahab shocked the visitors with a typical poachers' strike on the half-hour mark as the Royals established a 1-0 lead by the mandatory half-time break under wet conditions after the afternoon downpour.

Omar El Saaiy and Ahmed Mostafa (penalty) replied for Al Ahly in the second half to boss the opening leg.

Gadaffi tapped home from close range off a teasing delivery from winger Martin Kizza after 30 minutes as Kitara took the lead to send the reasonable number of fans in the stands ecstatic.

Elsael brought the game level with a superb finish inside the goal area in the 66th minute through the legs of goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa.

Al Ahly sealed the comeback with a well-struck penalty by Mostafa with 8 minutes left on the clock.

The return leg will be played next weekend in Cairo.
